Philadelphia Bus Accident Lawyer: Free Consultation at 215-574-1220
I am Jerrold A. Mayro, a personal injury lawyer who puts over 27 years of experience into your case. Serving the greater Philly area, I have handled all types of bus accidents:
- Pedestrians hit by a bus
- SEPTA riders injured when the bus stops suddenly
- Bus patrons injured boarding or de-boarding
- Rear-end and intersection auto collisions with a bus
Under Pennsylvania law, pedestrians and passengers of other than private passenger motor vehicles need not show "serious injury" to recover pain and suffering damages. Also, you may be eligible from SEPTA for payment of medical expenses up to $5,000. In SEPTA accidents, you must serve notice to the governments of your impending claim, and the claim must be properly prepared and filed within a certain period.
If several people were injured on the bus, the available coverage for non-economic damages (pain and suffering, lost quality of life) is divided among all victims. So we may have to look elsewhere for additional insurance coverage, such as your own uninsured motorist/underinsured motorist policy, or even the UM/UIM policy of a family member. We once looked to a mother-in-law’s policy and found underinsured motorist coverage in a similar situation.
If you were injured in a SEPTA accident (or any commercial vehicle or bus accident), contact an attorney experienced in these claims. Arrange a free consultation at 215-574-1220. I can make home or hospital visits, and collect no fees unless you recover compensation.
